in 2004 scott hessel bought the former cunning corner inn and after an
extensive refurbishment has now re-opened what is affectionally known as the bore.
With it's antique furniture, flagged floors, oak beams and a wealth of
interesting detail, make for cosy lunches and intimate candelit suppers.
The food however is another matter, cooking like this is rare. The style described as modern british with anglicised classics using
wherever possible, seasonal produce from a strong network of suppliers. No
wonder as this former winner of the roux brothers scholarship and with a cv
listing, La Tante Claire, Marco Pierre White and even the Crab and Lobster,
Thirsk comes as no surprise.
The bar with it's fine cask ales is a haunt for locals and visitors alike.
The extensive wine list shows off Scotts passion for wines from gold medal
winners, single estate producers and even a section dedicated to fine and
rare class acts.
With easy motorway access from West Yorkshire and Lancashire this
professional and friendly operation sees visitors from every age group
having a jolly good time.
